Sound & Vision
This is my long-running music column in The Rumpus, featuring multi-media rich interviews with those whose work connects to music. Highlights include Tony Visconti, Nicole Georges, and Ken Freedman. You can find the full monty here.
My previous non-narrated audio portrait column, ALBUM: Portraits of artists and Writers at Work, is archived in the same spot. Among others it featured the tattoo artist Stephanie Tamez, the cartoonist Ariel Schrag, and the performance artist/playwright Deb Margolin. One of my favorite stand-alone interviews was with the children's book author Tomi Ungerer.
I've often served as an ad hoc music and book critic for The Brooklyn Rail and the San Francisco Chronicle respectively. A few highlights include reviews of Chrissie Hynde, Nick Cave, and Kim Gordon. I also made a cameo in the August 2017 issue of Glamour, where I talked about the true talent of guitar pickup winder Abigail Ybarra.
